About Mike Armstrong

Originally from San Diego, Mike Armstrong developed a love for railroads at a young age. Some of his earliest memories are of watching Amtrak and Coaster trains at the Old Town San Diego station. In 2002, Mike received his first video camera for Christmas. Inspired by railroad videos he watched as a kid, Mike began filming trains all over San Diego county. One of his long term goals was to create a documentary about the Coaster.

Over the next six years, Mike honed his craft and developed his video production style. Then, in 2008, he started CoasterFan2105, named after his favorite Coaster locomotive. For more than 17 years Mike has worked to catalog and document railroads all across the United States and Canada. Everything from steam to diesel, and from passenger to freight, you can find it on the CoasterFan2105 channel.
